Wet But Green!

Hello Friends & Members,


It's still raining but a least little lighter so we've been able to keep working throughout.  I can't remember everything being so wet and so green. It's much like the wet West coast area I remember. This is also the fastest we've ever seen the grass and hay grow.  The only trouble is the weeds grow faster too!


DELIVERY NOTICE: For Half Share Members, if you didn't pick up a delivery last Thursday June 4th, then your first delivery is scheduled for this Thursday June 11th.

Last week we had a few mix ups so I apologize for the inconvenience. We should all be back on schedule by next week.  We're delivering close to 40 CSA coolers a week now. And plenty of Special Orders as well. Good thing we still have our trusty Market Trailer to use.

Farm News:


Busiest thing going on has been SO trying to get all the outdoor plants weeded while continuing to seed more. For a while the garden soil was so wet and muddy you couldn't even walk on it.  In the Hoop/Green Houses some more plant varieties are coming close to maturity. I've been trying to mow around the garden areas but the mower keeps plugging up with the wet grass and weeds.


We moved the cows to new pasture and let the pigs out on pasture as well.  For some it was they first time they ever experienced the freedom of running around a pasture.  It also wasn't long before they excitedly found their way to where SO dumps the fresh garden scraps over the fence.  Got another 5 tons of feed mixed up for them too.  Still trying to get some pigs scheduled with the Processor. Finally have more Beef in the freezer for the CSA and online Special Orders. Actually we have plenty of Beef and Pork in inventory now but, after the last sales run, I'm planning for restocking again in less than a month. The Processor is also finishing up with three beef Custom Orders placed by Customers.  We currently have Custom Orders for 16 of our Pigs with 14 still available for later in the Summer-Fall.  And we're already starting to get orders for our Fall Turkeys.  Last year we ran short.

CSA News:

We're pleased to have so many CSA Members again.  As stated before, all the recent preparation for our first week was a challenge but overall things went pretty well.  Let's take a look at the plan for deliveries this week.


Cooler of the Best Produce:

Micro Green Mix, Lettuce Salad Mix, Swiss Chard, Kale, Collard Greens, Daikon Greens, Napa Greens, Rhubarb, Carrots, Potatoes, Green Salad Onions, Bulb Onion, Leeks, Sesame Leaves, Garlic Chives, Herb-Basil, possible first Seedless Cucumbers and eggs.


Variety of Meats:

Chicken, Ground Beef, Beef Steaks, Beef Stew Meat, Bacon, Pork Chops, Pork Stir Fry

The citizens of our united nation have enjoyed great freedom and long been regarded as a human melting pot of races, nationalities and faiths. The diversity of our people has been the source of our economic and financial strength, creative ingenuity, and social successes that enable a standard of living well above most other nations of the world.  In past times of global difficulty our country has stood as a beacon of light and reason against evil.  Let's remember that as we show consideration, kindness and respect for all our fellow Americans we can rise above any pandemics, natural disasters or social conflicts as a nation truly blessed by God.
