RRR Newsletter - July 12
Hello Friends and CSA Members,
Meat shortages are developing again due to amount of orders and delays in processing. It seems all the local processors are overloaded. I have the livestock on hand and all are doing well but scheduling for processing delays concern me.
It's been a rough week dealing with continuing back injury. The pain meds help but some other challenges mean a visit to the doctor for an exam tomorrow. I am very appreciative that some friends have been helping out with the CSA and Special Online Orders. Hoping for volunteer help again this week.
All the hay baling is now completed. About 350 eight hundred pound bales so plenty of hay for this winter. Pasture still in good shape too. I'll be staying busy gathering and stacking bales for about a month. The hay is vital to continuing a strong beef raising operation and a major investment. Purchasing this much hay would cost about $20,000. And remember ours is organic which costs even more.
Picking up some more pork for inventory next Saturday. Beef inventory is depleted but have enough for the CSA Members for a few weeks. Hope the processor I use catches up soon! Also need to get some lamb processed soon.
Not quite sure how I'm going to do it but it is time to process the new calves and cows. My oldest grandson Bryan has offered to help next weekend.
This is the most Members we have ever had. Some who only signed up for Summer are already submitting Memberships for Fall. We will be closing the Fall Session to new Members soon. The early sign ups help us plan for growing and processing for Fall Members.
