Hello Friends and Members,
Well in spite of the forecasts for more hot weeks and several wildfires burning nearby we actually had a couple good rains and a cool down!
This will be our 24th delivery this week which ends the Summer Quarter. The Fall Quarter will begin September 2nd. We will not be taking a week off for a break because of the Skip on July 1st for the extreme heat.
We are taking payments for the 2022 CSA Program now for deliveries beginning next May. The program will be reduced to two quarters next year. Pricing will be higher but those who sign up early will still get 2021 pricing.
Had our first Fall calf born just two days ago. Expect a few more soon. Also have a big sow getting real close to having another batch of piglets.
Finished hauling the hay we bought to make up for the drought losses. The government drought relief payment promised is $1,250. The actual replacement cost was about $25,000. Something is a little off but that's government math I guess. So that wipes out our profits from the publics food buying panic last year.
Had to buy a couple new vehicles as the stress of the heat wave made my 30 year old truck and 22 year old Suburban performance unreliable. The replacements look new but are actually 2012's. Hope to be able to repair the new 20 year old tractor I bought last year in time for the Winter as it has four wheel drive.
Costs for about everything have gone up way more than the government's CPI ratings. Feed Grain and Hay up about 25% so far. Seed for the alfalfa planting this Spring is about double last year.
Thank you All for coming to pick up deliveries early to beat the heat. Been a big help! Hope to get enough early CSA Memberships to fund rebuilding the green houses wiped out and damaged this Spring by the 75 mph wind storms.

Variety of Meats - Chicken, Ground Beef, Steak Cutlets, Beef Stew or Stir Fry Meat, Ham, Bacon, Pork Sausage.
