Our one week break was pretty busy. Working together So and I mowed, cultivated, furrowed, plowed, seeded, fertilized, and covered 16 rows of 50 ft each with numerous varieties of potatoes all in one day! I also fixed two of the three tractors that all broke down the same week. We had a record thunderstorm again that quickly dropped over 2 inches of rain for a day that became total mud. Got a lot of fencing done but still a lot more to do. Have a couple of part time helpers on this work. New fence on two sides of the garden almost finished. Sold two Pigs and a Beef. Picked up over 9,000 lb's of fresh feed grain to mix for the hogs. Did a lot of mowing after I repaired the lawn tractor. Got the small farm tractor repaired after waiting 3 weeks for the part. Started planting outside areas of the garden. Twelve rows of Squash are done. Repaired several leaks across a 1300 ft water line to a tank at the far west pasture and moved the cattle all there. Had to hand feed the hogs all week because without a tractor couldn't load the feeders. Had a 1 year Memorial Service for So's Mother. And for a little break took a one day trip to a Hot Springs Resort in Montana.
Still working on one more tractor used primarily for heavy field work. Can't believe we have to split the tractor completely apart to just get access to a replace a 6 inch small return spring for the the clutch release bearing. To do this job will take the equivalent of a full week of work - if there are no unexpected problems. Need to get this done along with some repairs on our Hay Mowing Swather in the next 5 weeks to be ready to cut what looks like about 120 acres of Hay which includes the new alfalfa field I planted last Spring.
May 30th will be the first delivery of the Summer Quarter 12 week Season. It will be an ODD Week for Half Share Members. The freezer has been refilled with Beef and Pork. Also plenty of Lamb and Poultry ready too. More greens and other fresh veggies will be on the increase during the Summer season.
