Piglets Gone Wild!
Hello Friends & Members,
Sorry for the delay in posting. I was just overwhelmed by some farm events and didn't get the newsletter posted by the regular time.
Our second delivery will be Thursday, March 11. All CSA Members have been notified. I had to alter a few deliveries last week but all worked out okay. We had great weather and have been able to get a lot of Spring work started up.
Sunday afternoon all our pigs escaped and we've yet to begin rounding them up. The little piglets are thoroughly enjoying tearing around the yards. Boy will they be fun to catch! Our largest sow decided to break down the pen door as well as an outside barn down. Then she even knocked down a gate outside. I think she panicked when the little piglets scampered under the fence and shot off. With the better weather lately the pig situation is a good reminder to do more fence repair work, the job that never ends on a working farm.
Easter is coming soon. We have a couple lambs to sell and plenty of other lamb cuts.
Along with fence repairs we also serviced some field equipment and ordered the new Alfalfa/Grass seed for 50 acres. SO is excited about spring planting. She's been out there doing a lot of new seeding and transplanting of baby plants. The ground outside has only been dry enough since Saturday evening so I think we have a little more time.
Delivery will be very similar to last week so I'll list them again.
