New Calves & New Rains

Hello Friends and Members,

Had loads of rain, lightning, thunder and hail stones the last two days. Great for the pastures and reducing fire hazards. The big Colville Indian Reservation fire is within view of our place but the smoke seems to have receded. Power outages for short blinks so hope I get this letter finished.

Recently we consolidated our Contact List and post this Newsletter directly to the website Blog page. Customers should receive a weekly email with a link to the Blog for the full Newsletter. Please confirm that you are receiving the notice for this!  Some Members have said they are not receiving the email notice.

Still doing about the same things around here lately. Fixing fence and equipment repairs. Also helping out in SO's market garden. Re-mowing areas around the homestead to maintain a partial fire barrier.  Its raining hard again right now! The recent rains are really helping us out but the neighboring grain farms are probably not too happy as it has forced them to delay the grain harvest until things dry out.

This week we got the first new baby calf born for the season. Cute little guy!  They should all be born a little earlier this year.  Have a few new piglets as well.

Just restocked my freezer with most cuts of meat and poultry. Soon will also have more Smoked Sausage Dogs and Jerky/Pepperoni from both pork and Beef.  Starting to receive some Fall Custom Meat Orders. If you think you may want to order please do so soon! Supply is limited and Processor schedule gets very tight.

This will be the 23rd Delivery. After next week we'll take a break for a week. Had a few new folks ask about signing up for the CSA Program.

Let's see whats planned for this weeks delivery:

Produce/Eggs - Lettuce Salad Mix, Romaine Lettuce,  Micro Greens, Kale, Chard, Collard Greens, Sesame Leaves, Daikon Radish Greens, Napa Cabbage, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Garlic Chives, Green Onions and Leeks, Strawberries, Herb-Rosemary, Garlic Chives, Cucumbers, Summer Squash, and Eggs. Note: The recent heat wave wiped out the Spinach so will be replanting. Beans and Carrots coming soon.

Variety of Meats - Chicken, Beef Steaks, Beef Stew/Stir Fry Meat, Beef Short Ribs, Pork Chops, Ham Steak, Pork Ribs, Ham Hocks for soup. Note: Sorry for the shortage of ground beef. Will make it up in future deliveries.

Local and Organic - Please keep in mind that our products are truly local, fresh, organic and grass fed/pastured. All grains fed to poultry and hogs are sourced from neighboring farms. We grow natural and sustainable with bio-diversity and crop rotations.  Commercial markets can call products local fresh/grass fed/organic even if it is imported as long as it is processed in the U.S. Sorry we don't offer out of season and out of region items which are plentiful at fast food outlets and grocery stores.  None of our products need vitamins or minerals added and certainly not high levels of sugar or salt.  You're all welcome to visit our farm and see for yourself as some Members do.

See You All Soon!
